PROCRASTINATION NATION

Yeah, yeah. This blog has been written over and over - we've all been there and will go back there again and again. In fact, even before we HAD online blogs, we were scratching these very same sentiments out on... well, scratch paper. I spent a great deal of my college "study time" sitting in the corner of the library writing in my journal. I had volumes of journals at the end of my 4-year stint - it's a wonder I graduated. Hmm.. some people just never change I guess. Now I am sitting on my bed with my new laptop typing this and reading some of my favorite blogs on here.. entertaining myself at all costs. What I SHOULD be doing is writing an e-Book. I've been hired to write an e-Book for a friend's new website. I have all the material outlined - the research at my fingertips... but I am dragging on the actual writing of this monsta. Also, I guess allowing the TV to broadcast Sex and the City and Seinfeld reruns a mere five feet away isn't helping either. I was going to go to Silver Lake Coffee after work and just sit and write away... Why didn't I? 'Cause I wanted to read blogs and watch Sex and the City for the umpteenth time - that's why.

Oh, well - it'll get done in the end. In the very near future I'll probably be up all night trying to meet deadlines that seem so far away right now, but when you live in Procastination Nation... it's all par for the course. On a completely silly, but procrastinory note - the title of this blog reminds me of that scene in "Miracle on 34th Street" when Santa tries to convince little Susan Walker that the "imagination" was like the French Nation or the British Nation - "It's a wonderful place to visit." Hmm... might I also apply that theory to the ProcrastiNation? Yes, I think I will. After all - I enjoyed watching old TV reruns and reading witty blogs - and I'm also going to enjoy putting on my satellite radio in a minute and tuning into Little Steven's UnderGround Garage or Left of Center or a Howard Stern Replay. Oh, wait! I see that my favorite South Park episode is on!

Wow... I totally talked myself out of feeling guilty for procrastinating... thanks, Santa. :)
