Growing up in Southern California, I've always felt the usually mild weather had its stigmas. When us natives remark that the "weather is cold" we get responses like - "Cold? I'm from Detroit - you DON'T KNOW what it is to be cold." Admittedly, this is true. Conversely, we also giggle when we see Ohio State football fans walking the streets of LA in T-shirts and shorts when the weather is 65 degrees on New Year's Day - that's sweater weather for us.
But today, for the first time in many years in So-California, it snowed in West LA/Santa Monica and Malibu (see ironic picture above). Record cold temperatures, and finally a little rain front, produced the white stuff.
At last... IT'S COLD!

:hah:
At least we HAVE oranges! F-Train loving FOOL!
As a northern beaver, I declare that californians aren't allowed to declare it's cold unless chards of ice form in a glass of water left outside overnight.
In other words, you can't yet be smug like the rest of the country. If it reaches zero, then you can. Until then, tough cookies.
I'm with kermit on this!
HaHa!
Ribit!
So let me get this straight: are you actually glad it's cold?
What? Snow is not cold enough for you people?
I'm glad that I can say it's cold... and literally mean it. Plus, it's fun to have REAL winter weather for a change.
i'd like to call "shenanigans" on los angeles. one of my reasons for moving here was to avoid snow. on the plus side, i had a good excuse to eat a heavy pasta dish last night with extra red wine. i mean, it's winter, for chrissakes.
If I can still see green on the ground, it's not cold enough (and it's not really snow).
Have the Venice Beach rollerbladers upgraded to fur thongs?
So c-c-c-cold-d-d-d-d!
WHOA, it snowed there?? Crazy!!! That didn't happen in San Diego...although it freakin' feels like it's going to!!!
It snowed in London for the first time since I've been here, too. Guess that's not as unusual, though...
I thought the palm trees/snow picture was the icing andt decoration of a sheet cake.
Mmm, sheet cake.
