It was one of those rainy afternoons when everything looked gray - the street, the grass, the trees, the sidewalk, the street lights. It was like watching TV in black and white. When it rained it seemed like the only thing you wanted to do was play outside - and since you couldn't, you were less interested in your 'indoor' toys at that moment. My mom could tell we were a little bored and looking for some entertainment, so she told us to get our raincoats, we were going out.
For a reason that I was too young to understand or just not interested in, my parents needed to wire my older sister some money. So on this gray and rainy afternoon my mom put myself and my brother in the car and off we went to the Western Union office. We were happy to get out of the house - even just to ride in the car. I sat in the front seat, so I got to choose the radio station - which was some local top 40 channel. When we pulled up to the WU office my brother wanted to go in with my mom, but I chose to wait in the car and listen to music. When they came out of the office they walked past the car and into the bakery next door. My brother came running out first to the car, "Mom got us cream puffs!" I had no idea what a cream puff was, but I later found out that it's my mom's favorite pastry. My mom got back in the car with one of those pink bakery boxes and opened it up. As I took a bite of my first puff pastry with fresh whipped cream in the middle, my favorite Elton John song came on the radio. We sat in the car with the radio on, the rain beating on the windshield, and happily ate our delicious cream puffs. One of the best afternoons ever.
...I think I just realized what else to bring my mom for mother's day.

Elton John and cream puffs, huh? That's very fitting, since Elton is a little puff, now isn't he?
Which song was playing on the radio? I love him...so I'm curious.
That's a great memory. I have a similar deal with Frito's corn chips. I think cream puffs are much better, though.
ASH - Hmm.. I believe Elton is a pouff.
hey, kids, shake it loose together, spotlight's hittin' something that been known to change the weather...
