So after a day spent in pajamas watching DVDs, sipping hot Mariage Freres Noel tea and noshing on leftover snack food from holiday festivities - it was decided that we venture out into the neighborhood for post-holiday drinks and dinner. Parking on Sunset Blvd. I noticed something... small steel poles placed one car length from each other along the sidewalk. Then I saw the new signs "2 Hour Parking 8am to 6pm EXCEPT SUNDAYS AND HOLIDAYS".
"Oh, My God! They're putting in parking meters!"
For the first time since I moved to this neighborhood 15 years ago, there will now be parking meters along Sunset Blvd from Silver Lake to Echo Park. The Man will now be collecting chump change for us to park, and charging large amounts in violations. This means we'll now have to "watch the meter" when grabbing a meal or getting a haircut or shopping for novelties and notions. But worst of all, this means the infiltration of the most hated civic employees of all time - PARKING ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS (aka Meter Maids). There goes the neighborhood.

When I was going to college my cost in parking tickets almost rivaled my book expenses. So, I am right there with ya on this one.
P.S. I loved the card. Thanks!
I HATE meter maids!!!!!! I may be biased, but two tickets for not cramping my wheels against the curb?! COME on!!!
Ok, sorry, I got a little heated there :)
OH man, that sucks. In Chicago there were these mystical, magical things called 'street sweepers'. Around 5 a.m. their minions would put up 'no parking signs' for that day, you see, & since I walked to work, I didn't have to move my car. Well, thanks to the City of Chicago, I'm down a couple hundos. And never once saw a street sweeper in my neighborhood. In fact, I made the argument that they were completely made up by pointing to a crack baggie that had been on the street between 3 of these 'street sweeping' times. Total bs.
