THE MISSING TAPES

I took a vacation over the Thanksgiving holiday (taking full advantage of the 3-day week and the following week which was originally slated for a trip to Europe that fell through) - making my time off a stay-cation.

When I returned to my office I almost immediately noticed that the whole (and nearly full) spool of Scotch tape was missing from my tape dispenser.  It was puzzling, but with these hard times - even working at a fairly lucrative "Hollywood" studio is not without its scattered cutbacks. My co-worker requested a small (and manual) pencil sharpener and was given a plastic Bic engineer's pencil and told to reorder the leads every 6months.

Anyway.. luckily I had stored an extra tape spool (in the pre-recession Bush era) in my desk drawer and I replaced the tape. When I  moved into my current cubicle, my predecessor left behind packets of various herb teas and a spool of yellow florescent scotch tape (second from the left below). Having no real use for it - I hung it decoratively by a push pin on my bulletin board.

Today I noticed that this spool of tape too was missing. ??????? Am I the brunt of some practical joke? Will I receive picture postcards from my tapes along the Rhine River and on the coast of Honolulu and the Pyramids in Egypt? Or has my cubicle become the Free Tape Kiosk?

Any theories?

One of the biggest piss-offs in my life is when I can't find scotch tape (or duct tape) when I need it.

You gotta start a super-secret stash.
