I've been driving by the Lark Cake Shop for months and admiring how BEAUTIFUL this small Silver Lake bakery is from the outside. In the evening there are tiny blue lights lining the window and beyond that such a warm fuzzy light emanating that you can almost smell the warm baked goods it houses! I've resisted temptation to stop... until last night. I decided to buy desert for myself and K for later when we returned from our downtown dinner (more on that later). I saw a parking spot in front so I pulled over - for me a parking spot in front is a sign on high that it was time to stop in. Restraining from the need to sample everything in sight, I carefully chose my cupcakes from the case.
K had a gift certificate that was about to expire, so we dined at the downtown LA McCormick and Schmick with Charlotte, Trey and Bunny MacDoogle (SATC fans will know what that means). We were surrounded by dark wood paneling, green carpet and stuffed mallards. The food was OK, though - and we vowed to return for their all-night happy hour on Fridays .
Back at my house we fast-fowarded through the Oscar broadcast watching only the good parts (K had been obligated to attend a NASCAR event that same night and missed the original broadcast) and proceeded to devour the cupcakes like ravaged wolves. I can't decide which I loved better - the shortcake with REAL whipped cream, or the red velvet with whipped cream cheese frosting or the chocolate with delicious whipped mocha frosting that had just a hint of pistachio. 100 pounds later... the wondering is over. The Lark Cake Shop is as good as it looks.

Ha ha ha ha! Bunny.
Wow, they look great. But how on earth could you be starving after eating out! That usually fills me up for the rest of the day.
