Today as I drove around running errands (cleaners - Goodwill - post office - bank - 99c Store - but never did make it to the car wash) I was blogging in my head about the weather and the change of seasons. About how unbelievably cold it is in my house at night and in the morning and yet I can barely recall how desperately stifling hot it was at the end of summer. I thought how my oven seems to always be on these days - the dual purpose in utilizing the oven so much is food preparation and a source of heat in my non-insulated apartment (my wall heater is in the corner where I've planted a CD holder so I'd rather not melt them). In the dead of summer I barely turn on the stove much less the oven. Anyway, I was just thinking how we all plod through year after year, season after season... and that is how we mark time in a way.
Tonight I am dining with old friends - some of the best I've known for years now. This fact alone guarantees there will be laughter and lively conversation as well as a good eating in a fine restaurant. What better way to mark the time than with familiar faces whose cherished friendship somehow transcends the actual time we've all spent together.
My second mind blog was how 2010 will be the last year that people will be able to wear those 2000-whatever glasses and have them look semi normal framed around their eyes.
I digress, when what I should be doing is getting ready to go. Happy New Year everyone!
