THEY JUST SEEM A LITTLE WEIRD

I am a Sirius Satellite radio subscriber (that's right, and a Howard Stern fan too). Today I caught a replay of Howard's interview with 70s/80s rock phenoms Cheap Trick earlier this week. Howard said it, but it rang true - "Cheap Trick" is a friggin' GREAT name for a band! They still sound pretty good - some 28 years since their break-out "Live at Budokan." This midwest band was all the rage in Japan before they hit it the US.

Here they are in their prime:

they used the "mommy's all right, daddy's all right" chorus from "surrender" in a a disney commerical. interesting choice, considering that the rest of the song is about drugs, sexually transmitted disease, and walking in on your parents having sex.

It's amazing how these people preserve themselves anymore. Of course, there are always the exceptions. I saw Sheena Easton give a free concert at an Indian Casino. The only thing that kept me from laughing at her new three-note rendition of "Morning Train" was my $11 gin-and-tonic. I won't even go into what happened with "Sugar Walls."

Cheap Trick is tragically underrated.
