Not a bad three-day weekend. Folks in from out of town provided reasons to gather - first was an evening at 3rd and Farifax for some pitchers of beer at Farmer's Market.
Then later a fireworks patio party at a friend's house above Dodger stadium... the pyrotechnicians did a great job with the smileys and the cubes. I also recently played a role in hooking up the party's host up with some employment... hopefully this means the $ gods will see to it I WIN the super lotto.
I read an interview with Alan Arkin in
The Onion... this inspired me to see
Little Miss Sunshine - a dysfunctional family road movie - quite funny and well-acted.

Another visiting Ex-Angelino friend JB (who's moved east) met me for lunch and a mini Amoeba Music shopping spree. In adulthood, Amoeba has taken Disneyland's place for me as the "happiest place on Earth." While I refrained from making my usual large purchases, JB's pockets were deep. He is a humongous music collector and I was with him the very first time he went to Amoeba earlier this year, he was so overwhelmed (if you've been to the SF and LA stores, you'll know why) - he was like a kid in a candy store. If there's been more time in the day to shop, I think he would've had to back up a long-bed truck to the front doors to retrieve his purchases. This time he came prepared and brought a list. When I left him he was somewhere in the M's...
Back in the office now... rested and ready to work. Seriously, ALL weekends should be three days.

That's it: I'm going to have to see that movie and go to that record store now.
I was in all of those places, but on diferent days.
So was I! Wait...
I definitely think all weekends should be 3 days.
I've heard many good things about Little Miss Sunshine...I think I shall see it.
