It's been a rough week - but at least I had Taco Truck Thursday to look forward to. Seems the Los Angeles City Council (heeding the cries of outraged citizenry who say they gather larger crowds at inapproriate hours) passed an oridinance that does not allow these traveling restaurants to park in one spot more than 60 minutes or be subject to outrageous fines up to and including jail time. Jail time... for a taco truck driver and his cook?
Formerly known as "roach coaches" these little trucks have become a HUGE part of LA culture. And when most restaurants seem to roll it up at 11pm in this city, especially when you get the hungries after a late night out, you can always find a taco truck open... somewhere. Most sell delicious soft tacos - a variety of burritos and various other 'fast food' type items. They are blessing and a curse - the next morning you might not feel so great after feasting late - but man, do those tacos taste good at 2am!

That is ridiculous. Tacos are delicious, who would complain about them? People who hate tortillas, that must be it. This whole topic makes me so sad. :(
Man, I don't know what I'd do if they got rid of taco carts/vans downtown.
They sound really yum yum. We don't have them here. Pity
the trucks sound amazing...we don't have that in SD. Although, a lot of the mexican places around San Diego State stay open until 2 am :)
mmm...mexican food.
Uh, I kinda want to move to LA now just to have the ability to have trucks drive around & give me tacos.
