Isn't it IRONic?

It's starts here with The Big Lebowski. This is THEE most underrated Cohen Bros. film in my opinion, and it's Jeff Bridges' BEST comic performance ever. Well, among the many crazy moments in the plot is when Walter and the Dude go to get his money back from the kid who took a joyride in his car. When they are seated in the living room, they see the kid's father resting in an iron lung across the room. That's the start.

Next came The Iron Giant.  This was the first movie I subtitled wherein I became a blubbering idiot at my work station because I was suckered in - the plot is quite touching. I made it a point to get this DVD for all the nieces and nephs.

Radiohead. I was a bit slow to grasp on to these guys... but I wasn't introduced to the music with the big releases like Pablo Honey, The Bends or even my favorite of their CDs, OK Computer. A friend burned me a copy of My Iron Lung - an EP they recorded and released concurrently with OK Computer. I love this EP and there's a nice accoustic version of "Creep" on there as well.

So what am I getting to? This brings me full circle to the movie I saw tonight:
IRON MAN

It's really a great popcorn movie and the first from Marvel Entertainment. Kudos to them for making it themselves and doing a fine job. Nicely written - plenty of wit that Robert Downey Jr.  executes in fine fashion, per usual. Look for comic book genius Stan Lee in a great cameo and even director Jon Favreau has a small role. With this release, the summer movie season has officially begun. [*STAY until after the credits (yes, there are a lot) because there's a little preview of what's to come in this newest comic-book franchise] OK, so what's the catch besides the whole "iron" linkage? Jeff Bridges is in this one too. See? A full iron circle!

I know, strrrrrr...etch!

What also makes the movie stand apart is that Robert Downy Jr. actively sought out Jon Favreau when he heard about the Iron Man movie. He cared so much for this project that he put his office right next door to Favreau's. His commitment really shows.

Blimey, is he still around (Robert Downy Jr.)? Wasn't he an addict and locked up all the time? Or was that another one. Getting older and confuseder.

Thanks for visiting. Most appreciated. Middle Ditch needs all the support it can get. The serial is also broadcast in France for its English listeners. Some success at last. And on Facebook is a Middle Ditch Group which has now seventy members which is great.

Keep in touch

Robert Downey Jr. kicked ass in Iron Man. I haven't seen The Big Lewboski in years. I'm adding that to my Netflix queue, pronto.

Radiohead always takes me away into a different world when I listen to them...that was a hippie thing to say.

I have yet to see Iron Man, but with all the raves, I guess I should buy my ticket soon.

And I've never seen The Big Lebowski...I know, I know, shame on me!
