A NEW YEAR...

In the new year and beyond....

As I made my annual sojourn across the 6th Street bridge into East LA to buy tamales for my parents, I am again reminded how big LA is from end to end, and that is such a culturally diverse city. I need to be more cognizant of that and I want to explore places that I haven't bothered to in the past. There is always something to see and do here - and I appreciate that, it's time I take more advantage of it.

I finally walked around the Silver Lake Reservoir using the newly created path.  It's about a mile around the lake in a nice neighborhood with a lovely view of the water. A good place to think while getting exercise. I plan to think and walk a lot in 2009, and hopefully get others to join me (and the thinking gets replaced by talking).

And finally, one resolution:   Stop dropping change in piggy banks that do not have a good cork at the bottom. If you're not getting back at least what you put in, you have to invest your treasure elsewhere.

I have no cork whatsoever. And my poor 401K has been beaten nearly to death by the economy...

Where should I start stashing my cash?
