OBJET TROUVE Part 1

objet trouvé
French. Any ordinary object considered from an aesthetic viewpoint; a natural or manufactured object that is perceived as being aesthetically satisfying and exhibited as such.

This is the first part in a series. I felt that objet trouvé was a better title than "Things That Can Be Found on My Desk at Work," which is essentially what this is about.

I work in a spacious cubicle in an otherwise typical modular furniture setting. I am sure that many people work in similar settings. To make ourselves feel better about being in such an environment 8+ hours a day, we tend to spruce up the desk area with things that bring us comfort and joy - not unlike a Christmas carol.

My first item of note is a mini Bob's Big Boy bobble head. This little statue makes me happy for several reasons, but here are a couple: Bob himself is kind of a visual combination of Ronald Regan, Elvis Presley and the boy you sat next to in the first grade - a good mix. Second, he reminds me of my childhood and adolescence. Bob's Big Boy was THEE hang out when I was in high school. We'd congregate there after every sporting event and stand outside while boys circled the venue and sped by in their suped-up cars... several times. They had speakers outside so that you could hear your name called, "Wild, party of four. Wild party - your table is ready."
