MINIM-EYES ON THE PRIZE

I love Cracker Jacks - they are the perfect snack. All at once sweet and salty and satisfying. They are forever immortalized in "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" and I don't think I've ever been to a baseball game and NOT purchased Cracker Jacks, or peanuts for that matter. But the cool prizes no longer exist. I remember when I was little I'd get mini compasses and magnifying glasses and rings and even little plastic Jacks. I just bought some Cracker Jacks (an impulse buy while standing in the supermarket line) and my prize was a little paper (not even cardboard) baseball card of Gaylord Perry. It came wrapped in this:
Just seemed cheap and not worthy of a hall of famer to be placed in. Made me think of the old days when I was little and being very excited when I got a good prize. In Breakfast at Tiffany's, George Peppard has a Cracker Jack ring engraved for Audrey Hepburn - so romantic....

you know no longer compares to my childhood version? Fun Dip. You get less plus eating a bag of sugar hilds less appeal than it once did.
